Ep 83: Stop thinking your business is pass/fail.
May 20, 2021So many new business owners are scared or worried or even upset after they launch and things don't go as planned. And I have found out many then feel like they "failed." I have some news for you: starting your business is not pass/fail.
This breaks my heart. Your business is not pass/fail. It's different.
Your business is a journey. It's a constant learning process. It's a constant evolution, learning experience & adaptation.
Quotes I mentioned:
Thomas Edison: "I have not failed. I have just found 10,000 ways that won't work."
Nelson Mandela: "I never lose. I only win or learn." - meaning he's either winning or learning
Today I want you to consider how you are viewing the processes you are going through every day as you start & grow your business. When products don't sell, don't think that they failed. When no one likes your social posts, don't think it failed. When you don't get traction from emails you send out, don't think they failed.
You have to evaluate what you just did to know your next best steps. You have to ask yourself what you did and try to figure out why it may not have worked.
1. I will tell you the first question I ask many coaching clients is:
"Tell me about your audience. Who are they? What are they like? What do they have in common?"
Once you know your audience, then you can create products, emails, social posts, etc that appeal to them.
2. Then I would also ask you about your product. Does it fit your audience? Is it what they want? And if you don't know, you need to find out. And you may need to change your product or build a more appropriate audience.
Again, this is not a pass/fail. This is a constant learning process.
So please don't get discouraged. Simply evaluate what you are doing before you get upset or worried. Keep your head up.
And ask for help if you need to. Don't go about this alone.
